Do as he says…

…Not as he does.

Several US Navy SEALS were recently disciplined over their involvement with an upcoming video game, Medal of Honor: Warfighter.  At issue is their alleged disclosure of tactics, strategies, and, according to at least one piece I read, equipment.

Now, if it happens to be that it’s true, and that these men were taking payment for consultation, especially if classified material was involved, then it is unquestionably necessary to discipline them (though one has to ask why it was only 7 of the 11 that received the letters of reprimand).  All well and good, and fine so far as it goes…

…so why do we turn a blind eye when the President and/or his administration leak sensitive information, both more often and of a more sensitive nature?  Has everyone forgotten Dr. Shakil Afridi, the doctor who helped US operatives find Bin Laden?  Seriously, folks, I spaced on his name and just googled “Pakistani doctor, bin laden raid,” and there he was!  THAT is the amount of trust our servicemen and allies can place in us?

Isn’t it apparent why, comparatively, I’m less concerned with some SEALS having potentially gossiped about some of the latest and greatest attachments for their M4A1’s?

Come on, MSM, what about Dr. Afridi, what about endangering Israel over the Stuxnet leak?  Nope, not when there’s a video game on the horizon that they could focus on instead…

We’ve got four more years of the worst kind of politicians in office because the media doesn’t want to shine the spotlight where it’s so clearly and desperately needed:  the administration.

  1. Tim says:

Yeah, what you’re talking about is Opsec, or operational security. The idea is you don’t give the enemy enough information to predict future operations and endanger the lives of servicemen on those future operations.

So, we can punish some navy seals for their involvement in a video game (which could be debated, but I stand behind) but not the Commander in Chief for doing the exact same thing?

And this is the man that we’ve elected. Yet again.
